I’ll be more honest though, it went beyond awkward and became uncomfortable, upsetting, and triggering. I’ve always had times where I question labeling myself “feminist” due to the treatment I get from the feminists in the Ivory Tower, or the ones who worship at the base of the Ivory Tower. I feel so excluded, so often. The silencing techniques they use, “You shouldn’t be so aggressive,” “You shouldn’t be so angry,” “People would listen to your needs if you’d calm down and be nicer,” “There’s no excuse for anger at the majority,” etc. None of it is helpful, but it certainly pushes me out.
I still care about liberation, equality/fairness, and trying to be as intersectional as possible - but right now, these Ivory Tower intellectuals have left me feeling hurt and defeated—-definitely feeling unwanted within “their” world. More and more, it feels like it is “their” world.
(Another issue I had with this was the feminist in question is cis, but felt a need to preach to me about trans issues, after they already got defensive about how they didn’t like the word “cis” because “normal” people didn’t need a word to let people know they are “non-trans*”.)

yeas:

By raising money, I’m helping RRFP fill a vital health care gap by helping people with uteri pay for abortion care, emergency contraception, options counseling, child care during abortion procedures, and transportation costs to clinics.

Only $50 until I meet my $400 goal… and only two days of fundraising left!

i'm bowling for abortions!

hi awkward feminists! yeas here. i wanted to tell you about something really exciting i’m doing in april that i think you’ll be interested in, and i need your help!

i’m bowling with team gsexxxy and the national abortion access bowl-a-thon to raise money for richmond reproductive freedom project, the only active abortion fund in the state of virginia that provides several services to virginians in need of abortions. learn more about them here.

my personal fundraising goal is currently $400, and every dollar counts. rrfp estimates that, each month, up to $2,000 is needed to assist their clients. by donating to this event, your gift will make an immediate difference in the lives of people in virginia.

if you can, please consider making a tax-deductible donation on my personal fundraising page here: http://bit.ly/marklebowl. if not, signal boost!

thank you! <3
